13 June 2016

The Alhambra Shopping Centre in Barnsley recently welcomed a whole host of superheroes to help with its 'One Great Day' fundraising campaign to support two worthy charities.

The popular shopping centre raised a staggering £3,300 to benefit the towns Tiny Hearts Foundation and on a national level - Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The charitable efforts, featured a golf day, superheroes including Captain America, Batman, Spiderman, Iron Man, Big Hero 6 and Wonder Woman alongside other friends, Kids Club activities, face painting and lots of ping pong fun!

The superheroes were on hand at the main entrance for photos and to meet their little fans from across the town. Two ping pong tables were also placed in the centre outside Iceland, to help mark the launch of Barnsley Ping! Festival which is now running for five weeks.

Steph Higham, Alhambra Shopping Centre marketing manager said: " We were delighted with the turnout at this year’s One Great Day event. It’s fantastic to see Barnsley residents and local companies all backing two worthy charities.

“The money raised will truly change the lives of families with special care babies and allow the nursing staff to continue offering life changing medical care.”
